Dr. Adam Farber is a Fellowship Trained, Board Certified Phoenix and Scottsdale orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine. He has a particular interest in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and knee.
Education and Training
Dr. Farber attended Stanford University for his undergraduate education; he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences.
His medical education was completed at the University of California at Irvine where he was honored with induction into the Alpha Omega honor society.
He completed his orthopaedic surgical residency at the world famous Johns Hopkins Hospital where he served as an administrative chief resident and was awarded the resident research award. He subsequently completed an extra year of fellowship training in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at the prestigious Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
During his fellowship, he served as assistant team physician for the athletic department at Loyola Marymount University, and associate team physician for Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Sparks and part of the medical staff for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Avengers and USC Football. During his fellowship, he received the Kerlan-Jobe Basic Science Research Award for his research on rotator interval closure techniques.
Treatment Areas
While Dr. Farber treats all musculoskeletal conditions, he specializes in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine with a focus on shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries/conditions, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral pathology, Tommy John surgery, articular cartilage injuries, meniscal pathology, and ACL tears.
Dr. Farber currently serves as the head team physician for Scottsdale Community College. He also serves as a consulting physician for the Los Angeles Angels Major League Baseball organization during Spring Training.
Certifications
Dr. Farber is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in Arizona who has obtained a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
